Search By GEO ID
You can now (finally) search for a specific district using it's GEO ID. Enter the GEO ID in the search box and click the search button. The system will return the exact match, and navigate directly to that district's page.
Search By Name
There is also a search box for you to enter a district's name. The search algorithm has been improved, and will filter districts down to those that match the name on any level (Admin 1, 2, and 3)
Filter By Country
There is single drop down menu that has all of the countries in the Geoconnect Database, ordered alphabetically. You can start typing the name of the country you are looking for and the list will jump to that country. When you select the country name that you are looking for, the table of districts will automatically filter down to only districts within that country.
When you are filtered down to a single country, searching by name will be scoped down to only return districts within that country. For example, if you are filtered to only look at districts within Zambia, and you search for the name Southern, you will only see Zambian districts with Southern in their name, as opposed to every district in the system with Southern in their name. On the flip side, if the filter is set to All Countries,
the same search would return every district in the system with Southern in their name, if that is what you want to do.
Improved UI on single district page
When you select a specific district to view you will be taken to that district's district page. This page now has a much more logical layout, that is cleaner and easier to understand. At the top you will see the information about that district; GEO ID, Admin Name(s), and Admin ID(s). If the district has any sub districts, you will see those below, in their own table. You can easily navigate to the sub districts from this page. There are also links on the page that allow you to jump back up to the top level Admin for that district, or up to all the districts in that district's country. This improved user interface will hopefully create a better user experience when jumping around from district to district.
Visual Indicator for missing GEO ID
There is now functionality in the system that allows us to flag districts that do not yet have their GEO ID included in the Shapefiles. If you are looking at a district record, and notice that the GEO ID is red, that is the indication.
Date of Shapefiles Last Updated
On the downloads page, you will now see the date that the Shapefiles were last updated displayed above the download links.
